Student Research

One of the benefits of being a history teacher is that our students have access to a wealth of historical resources - if only they would talk to the older members of their family.

So in 1994 pupils  of Tewkesbury School started a research project for their GCSE entitled "What did you do in the War, Grandad & Grandma?" - and we learned so much.

(then Y11, now very grown up: Helen Playdon, Louise Walton & Kate Hodges along with grandparents)

As part of this project and a visit by  former Ashchurch GIs in 1992, we made contact with the veterans in the U.S.A. and as a result I was able to write two articles for the THS Bulletin which were based upon these resources.
